Intake

What types of animal intake does Buzz support?

Buzz supports owner surrenders, strays, transfers from other rescues or shelters, disaster and hoarding cases, and more.
How do owner surrenders work in Buzz?

Owner surrender forms on your website automatically create animal records with the intake type and owner information pre-filled.
What information is required to add an animal?

Only two fields are required to add an animal to the system (and your website): the animal’s name and status.
Does Buzz automatically assign intake dates and IDs?

Yes. Every animal receives an automatic intake date and a unique Buzz ID. However, intake dates and Buzz IDs are completely editable.
Can we track where an animal came from?

Yes. Intake history includes sources like stray, owner surrender, transfer, and others.
Can Buzz manage litters of puppies or kittens?

Yes. You can create litters, link siblings, and associate parents. What’s more, litters are not only managed in the back-end software, but they also become searchable on your front-end website.
Can we clone animal profiles to save time?

Yes. Cloning allows you to quickly create similar animal records, especially convenient when entering litters

Can we track where each animal is housed?

Yes. Animals are linked to fosters in real time and can be moved with one click.
Do animal listings update automatically on the website?

Yes. Public-facing updates instantly sync to your website. In addition, if you choose to use our PetFinder or Adopt-a-Pet integrations, those same public-facing updates are automatically pushed to those sites as well, without you having to log in and perform double-data entry.
Can Buzz generate documents from In Care data?

Yes. Buzz creates professional, branded PDFs from the data you enter.
Can we email documents directly from Buzz?

Yes. Documents can be attached and emailed from the animal profile.
Is communication tracked per animal?

What is the animal Timeline used for?

The Timeline shows each animal’s complete history in your care from the point of Intake, including notes, communication, foster assignments and events.
Can we schedule events for animals?

Yes. You can schedule vet visits, transports, training, and meet-and-greets. These are all logged in an animal’s Timeline so everyone at your rescue can be on the same page.
Can we see scheduled activity across all animals?

Yes. Scheduled events appear on the Dashboard for organization-wide visibility.

Outcome

Can we manage adoptions directly from Buzz?

Yes. Adoptions are initiated from the animal profile, and only approved adopters can be selected from the drop-down menu list.
Do adoption statuses update automatically?

Yes. Status changes sync to your website and listing platforms such as PetFinder or Adopt-a-Pet, assuming you connect the integration. When an animal’s status is changed to “Available,” they go up automatically, and when they are adopted, they come down automatically, eliminating the need for duplicate data entry.
Can animals be returned to the rescue if an adoption fails?

Yes. Animals can be returned with one click and relisted automatically. If you have connected Buzz’s PetFinder or Adopt-a-Pet integration, they will both go back up on your website and those two platforms automatically.
Can Buzz track non-adoption outcomes?

Yes. Transfers, animals leaving rescue, and end-of-life outcomes are supported.
Are outcomes tracked for reporting purposes?

Yes. All outcomes are recorded and available for reporting. Buzz includes many useful out-of-the-box Outcome reports, and supports the creation of unlimited, free custom reports, including both National and state reports.

What medical information can Buzz track?

Buzz tracks intake observations, medical history, conditions, treatments, medicine and documents.
Can we record intake medical observations?

Yes. You can document health observations made during intake.
Does Buzz track microchips?

Yes. You can store microchip numbers and use the microchip lookup tool. In addition, if you enable our microchip integration, microchip registries are automatically updated when they enter or leave your care, without you having to log into those sites and perform double-data entry. In the case of animal returns, the microchip registries we integrate with keep your information on file, and automatically register the animal back to you.
Do you integrate with any microchip companies?

Yes. We have a full integration with Buddy ID and AKC Reunite. We also allow you to add data for over 30 other microchip companies
Can we track spay and neuter status?

Yes. Buzz tracks status, providers, expected dates, and exceptions. For any animals not currently spayed or neutered, expected dates can be entered and tracked in both our Dashboard and in reports.
Can we manage vaccines and preventatives?

Yes. Buzz tracks vaccines, preventatives, exams, cumulative test results over time, as well as dates for any future doses. Those dates can be accessed through our comprehensive reporting tools, so rescue or shelter staff can always know when animals are due for their next doses over any given time period.
Can we record chronic or acute medical conditions?

Yes. Conditions, symptoms, diagnoses, treatments, and follow-ups are fully documented. Similar to vaccines and preventatives, follow-up dates are accessible via Buzz reports to provide a clear view of any next steps in an animal’s care.
Can we track medications and supplements?

Yes. Prescription, OTC, and supplements can be logged and shared.
Can medical records be shared easily?

Yes. Buzz generates branded medical PDFs for vets, fosters, or adopters. Rescue or shelter staff can either generate complete medical histories, or limited portions of that data, depending on your needs.
